Alex, 4, had a difficult life, shuttled among 4 foster homes. He had been placed in a home with a 77 year old woman and was safe and loved there, being cared for by the woman and her 30 year old son, whom he called "uncle," but was removed by case workers because of the woman's age.

His life tragically ended on Sunday, Jan. 11 in the back yard of his new foster family's home on Chicago's southwest side when he was mauled by at least one of the family's two rottweilers.

The dogs were described as very large and aggressive by neighbors.

Alex, despite having behavioral problems and a short attention span, enjoyed school.
