Gerald Lee Adams Senior, was born to Clarrissa Bell Carrington and William Henry Adams on January 1, 1930. He left his earthly home and moved to his heavenly home on March 24, 2015. Gerald was born near Big Sandy, TX and at a young age moved to Richland Springs, TX where his father was a farmer. He attended school in Richland Springs and graduated from Richland Springs High School where he spent most of his time as an all-district guard in football and as a first place winning poultry judge.

Gerald served in the Navy from 1950 – 1954 during the Korean War as a gunners mate. While onboard a LST, his wrist and shoulder were injured. He was Honorably Discharged in October 1954. While in the navy, Gerald visited his brother John and met Myra Beth Wilson who was attending Sam Houston State Teachers College. Gerald and Myra married on November 7, 1954. Gerald joined Myra at college, and they both received their degrees. Following graduation, Gerald spent several years as a teacher sharing his love of agriculture with his students in Center Point, TX while raising sheep and goats. He also judged FFA competitions, directed high school plays, drove a school bus, coached the powder puff team, and worked as a sports reporter for a local paper.

With a growing family, Gerald decided to leave education in pursuit of higher earnings. He moved his family to Baytown and went to work for Uncle Ben's Rice in Houston as a miller. Gerald worked in various capacities in production, quality control, and was very instrumental in opening the Greenville plant in Mississippi. He retired from Uncle Ben's after 33 years to help care for his twin grandsons. Following his retirement he worked in real estate, timber production, and antiques.

Gerald was raised in a strong Christian home as a member of the Church of Christ. After marriage he belonged to Center Point Baptist, Center Point Methodist, Cedar Bayou Methodist, Eastside Baptist, and Memorial Baptist Church. Gerald's relationship with Christ and his church family have always been a very important part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Elvin, Horace, Howard, and Harold Adams; his sister Emma Lou Adams; and his grand-daughters Bethanny Alice and Caitlyn Elizabeth Hughes.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Myra Beth Wilson Adams; his daughter and son-in-law Jerri Beth and Roger Hughes; his son and daughter-in-law Gerald ("Dusty") Jr. and Kay Adams; his grandsons Zackery and Jarred Hughes; his granddaughters Katelyn and Lauren Adams; and his brothers John and Bob Adams, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the Memorial Baptist Church Chapel on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11 am, visitation at 10 am. A graveside service will be held at the McAdams Family Cemetery in Huntsville on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11 am.

We would like to thank Myra's special friends Irene Washington and Loretta Zeno who have helped so much during the last two years. We would also like to thank the caring staff at St. James House neighborhood 2, the gentle loving support of Faith Community Hospice, and the constant support of our church family at Memorial.
