Pon was born in the village of T'ai-shan in Kwangtung, China, and came to North Platte, Nebraska, in 1936. Pon graduated from North Platte High School in May,1949.♠ In 1948 Pon participated in Nebraska Boys' State where he was elected as the Governor of Nebraska Boys' State, He went on to participate in Boys' Nation in Washington, D.C. that same year.
Pon graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1955 with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture. Pon practiced Architecture at Columbia, Missouri and surrounding areas where he left a legacy of commercial and residential projects.
Pon was a very creative and insightful person, with a keen eye for architectural aesthetics.
Using his vast knowledge of Architecture, Pon taught, for seventeen years, ♠ Architectural Delineation in the Housing and Interior Design Department at the University of Missouri located in Columbia, Missouri
Pon was an excellent cook of Chinese and American cuisine, having learned that practice in his father's and uncle's restaurant known as The King Fong Cafe in North Platte, Nebraska.
