On last Saturday night, Mr. A. B. Abernathy, a blacksmith at No. 3 mine, retired at 11 o’clock, and about half-past 12 his wife heard him breathing very heavily, and thought he was snoring. Finally he became so quiet his wife got uneasy, and going to his bed found him dead. It is said he had been drinking some and had taken a drink before retiring. Death it is thought was caused by heart failure. The remains were interred at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Monday morning.
