Patrick "Pat" R. Fugitt, 71, was swept away while he slept on wings of angels to his Heavenly Home Friday, March 20, 2015. A Memorial Service will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at High Point Church on New Road, Waco, with the Pastor John Rambeau officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Pat was born October 10, 1943 to Olive (Webber) Fugitt and Roscoe H. Fugitt in Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended Roy Miller High School before enlisting in the Army Reserves. Shortly after he married Julie (Gregor) Fugitt and together had one son, William J. "Joe" Fugitt.

In 1969 they moved to Waco in a U-Haul truck to open the first Whataburger franchise there. Pat was a natural, gifted entrepreneur and started or purchased several other businesses in Waco, such as Jack's Stereo, The Loading Zone, Manske Roll Bakery and All 4 Less Dollar stores. Bush's Chicken was his final business accomplishment in which he negotiated the purchase of a franchise in Copperas Cove, Texas with his son, Joe. He was a wonderful husband, Dad and friend.

He is preceded in death by his Mom and Dad; son, Kirk; and brother, Gene and wife, Ellie.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Julie; son, Joe and wife, Vicki of Copperas Cove; grandson, Asher of Copperas Cove. Other survivors are brother, Jim and wife, Margaret Anne of Midway, Utah; brother-in-law, Bruce Gregor of Robstown. Also surviving are Gina and David McNamara, niece and nephew of Nashville, Tennessee; Hesta and Wayne Harrison, cousins of Barksdale, Texas
