Orval Detweiler, age 69, of Shelbyville, MO, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.

He was born February 24, 1946, in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Benjamin and Barbara Miller Detweiler. They preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Shirley Phillips in 1971.

Orval is also survived by three children; Tonya Joergensen (Mike) of San Antonio, TX, Shelia Detweiler of Phoenix, AZ, and Angela Detweiler (Fiancé-Paul Betz) of Shelbina, MO, four grandchildren; Shayla Detweiler, Skylar White, Ethan and Phillip Joergensen, one sister; Carolyn Sue Swartzendruber (Gary) of St. Lawrence S.D. and several nieces and nephews.

Orval was a truck driver for O’Laughlin’s, Detweiler Trucking, and Bross Construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, grilling, and spending time with his family and friends, and was especially proud of his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, with burial to follow at Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home in Shelbina from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
