He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Christine Bentley; and one great-granddaughter, Katrina Hall. Melvin is survived by his wife Linda Bentley; sister Anne Cox; mother-in-law, Dovie Wetherly; son, Chris Bentley and wife Bea; daughters, Michelle Bentley, Diana Bentley; stepchildren, Drusilla Waters, Michael Jones, and William Jones; nephews, Donald Cox and wife Bonita, Brian Cox his son Brian Jr.; 8 grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City.
