Bernard James ROGGENBUCK
Our Dad, Bernard James "Bud" Roggenbuck, passed away on Sunday, March 8th, 2015 in Spokane, Washington. He was surrounded by his four kids and his partner of 26 years. He was just shy of his 84th birthday. Dad was born in Stratton, Colorado and was the second child to Albert and Anne Roggenbuck. Their children include his older brother Gerald and four younger sisters, Sally, Francie, Dailene, and Laura. Dad spent his youth in Walla Walla where he attended high school while working on the family farm. After graduation, on April 11, 1953 he married our Mom Beverly Gumport and moved to Spokane to raise a family. After working for Ralston Purina for many years, Dad and Mom decided to start their own company, and founded "Bud's Mobile Home Service" in the early 80's. He retired in 2007 and passed a great business on to his daughter. His part time involvement in the business lasted for many years after. He always had a deep love for automobiles. Dad spent much of his free time refurbishing and renovating 50s and 60s vintage cars and pickups. If it was mechanical, he was all in. Fords were his favorite. His other pastimes included spending the winter months in Yuma with Phyllis, his best friend and longtime companion, as well as his many friends from the Early V-8 Ford Club, the CARS Club, and the Hassie Car Club which they were members. Current family members who have survived him include: his four sisters mentioned above, his partner Phyllis Odell and our mom Beverly Saylor, daughter Shannon and husband Doug, sons Kevin and wife Connie, Kelly, Mike, and stepson Robin, grandsons Jason and Jeremy and wife Elizabeth granddaughters Kathryn and husband Erik, Jennifer and husband Erik , Keri, Kamlyn and husband Scott, and Haylie, great- granddaughters Madison, Avery Issabella, Taylor, Brook, Kendall, and Avery Kennedy, great-grandsons Jake, Kasey, Andrew, and Ryne, and, too many nieces and nephews to mention. He affected so many of our lives with his kindness, wisdom, strength and love. A private family memorial service will be held to celebrate Dad's life in the future and he will be laid to rest with his older brother and parents.
