Alma Carroll Lister, age 86, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Grace Heights Health & Rehabilitation Center in Morganton. Born in Yancey County, NC on May 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Eula Gibbs Carroll. A member of Nix Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Alma was a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years and had retired from Southern Devices. When she wasn’t working with her flowers, Alma enjoyed watching the birds and reading her bible. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Lister; one son, Morris Lister and one granddaughter, Jennifer Michael Lister.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Judy Lowe and husband Jerry of Marion, Mike Lister and wife Pat of Glenwood, Debra Laney and husband Gary of Marion and David Lister and wife Kim of Morganton; three siblings, Edith Laws of Celo, Wade Carroll of Celo and Glenda Atkins of Spruce Pine; six grandchildren, Angie Crouch, Michelle Cotton, Crystal Murray, Bryan Laney, Barry Laney and Trent Lister and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Nix Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Revis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
