Washougal – James Charles Dally, who played an active role in local carpenters' union locals, died Monday in his home.

The 75 year-old was born April 9, 1905, in LaPorte, Minn. He moved to Washougal 55 years ago, and last resided at 1020 12th St.

Dally was a past president of both Local 1466 of the Carpenters' Union of Camas and the Southwest Washington District Council of Carpenters. He was a past vice president of Local 1715 of the union in Vancouver.

The retired carpenter also was active in Bethel Community Church. He was a past president of its board of trustees, and of the board of deacons, and was chairman of the building committee.

Dally is survived by his widow, Clara, at home; one son, Charles of Washougal; two daughters, Joanne Tuholsky of Washougal and Mary Smith of Portland; two sisters, Lois Stevens of San Diego and Marjorie Inceldon of Vancouver; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bethel Community Church in Washougal with Pastor Errol Templar and the Rev. Don Stephens officiating. Private burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Washougal.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
