Icel June Benson, a former Skamania County auditor, administrator and secretary of the County Commissioners, died at home Saturday, April 28, 1994 of cancer. She was 62.
Mrs. Benson was born Aug. 19, 1931, in Medford, Ore., and moved to Skamania County in 1947. She was a Cook resident since 1954. Mrs. Benson was a secretary at Battelle Northwest in Portland, and was a long-haul truck driver with her husband. She held several positions with the Skamania Co. Fair Board and was a member of the Washington State Grange, Mt. Pleasant Grange, the Cascade Pomona Grange and the Rebekah Lodge.
Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1992.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, William and Virgie Seymore of Woodburn,
Ore., three daughters, Anita Gahimer of Richland, Wash., and Virginia Hansel and Jean Johanson, both of Cook, Wash.; two sons, Ernie Gahimer of Omak, Wash., and Frank Gahimer of Richland; one brother, Allen Seymore of Hillsboro, Ore.; one sister, Ellen Rodriguez of Sacramento, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.
A service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Rock Creek Center in Stevenson, followed by a burial at the Mt. Pleasant Grange Cemetery in Washougal.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
