Abraham, usually called Harry, born in Sevier County, Tennessee, was the son of John McKissack and Martha Williams.
Abraham Harrison married on October 20th 1872 to Margaret Kerr and their children were John Tipton, Julia, Catherine, and Mary, and Adaline.
He volunteered at the age of 16 to serve in the War Between the States and was in the Battle of Chickamauga under Capt. Burch O'Neal. He had a brother, James, who was killed while serving in the Union Army and they never found his body.
Abraham Harrison was a much liked and respected man in Polk County. An article written for the Heritage of Polk County by granddaughter Marchie Post states, "One day while working in the field, a helper threw a pitch of hay that accidentally still had the pitch fork in it and nearly killed Grandpa. The helper said if it had killed him, Polk County didn't have enough money to buy another Harry McKissack!"
