On December 12, 1980 he married Elizabeth (Bette) Russell at the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bellefonte. Their children were Allison Elizabeth, born May 9, 1983, died May 9, 1983; and Ame Laurine, born May 9, 1983, died May 10, 1983.
George was also survived by a dear cousin, Katherine Harris Keene Gallagher, and by his second family Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Mensch II and their children Heather, Amy, and Thomas III; and by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mensch, all of Bellefonte.
George was a graduate of Bellefonte High School (‘57) and Penn State University (’61) where he studied Agricultural Economics. He worked for Peoples (Omega) National Bank from 1961 to 2002 attaining the position of Assistant Vice President and manager of the Bellefonte Office.
He was a life member of the Logan Fire Company and served as Assistant Chief and as Bellefonte Fire Marshall. He served on the Board of MHMR, of the Centre County Library, and of the Bellefonte Boro Housing Authority. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Bellefonte, where he served as Senior Warden, Vestryman, Lay Reader, Assistant Treasurer, and choir member.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 120 W. Lamb St., Bellefonte, PA. Friends will be received from 10-11 AM, at the church, prior to the service. Interment will follow in the St. John’s Episcopal Church Columbarium.
