MRS. LAURA RICKARDS
Though she ws in her accustomed pew at the Methodist church in Seneca October 5th, announcement of the funeral service for Mrs. Laura Rickards was made from the pulpit her yesterday. Mrs. Rickards became very ill Thursday night and was taken to the Axtell hospital Friday morning where an operation was performed. Spite surgical efforts she passed away at the hospital Sunday morning at 3:15 a.m. Mrs. Rickards had not been feeling well, however, since January.
Laura Landchester was born in Jefferson county, New York August 29, 1854. She reached the age of 76 years, two months and 14 days.
Mrs. Rickards was thrice married. Her second husband was Adolpus Wells. It was to her first union with Mr. Garlock that all her children were born. They were Bert in Canada, Ed in North Dakota and Norman is deceased. Mrs. Sara Garlock of Onaga is a sister and there is a brother and sister in the east. There are 10 grandchildren. Mrs. Elmer Rambo, Beatrice and Mrs. Roy Thompson of Centralia are stepchildren. Ed, the son, North Dakota, will be here for the funeral which is to be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the Methodist church. Rev. C. A. Richard will be the pastor in charge in the absence of Rev. L. B. Pruitt.
For 35 years Mrs. Rickards has made her home in a south side cottage. Her great devotion in life after her family was reared, was to the Methodist church. She was one of its most faithful worshipers. She permitted nothing to interfere with her attendance.
