JoAnn Marilyn Oltmanns, 57, of rural Le Mars died Sunday, March 24, 1996, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars after a lengthy illness.

Services were held Wednesday, March 27 at Christ Lutheran Church. Grant Township, rural Le Mars with the Rev. Harrison Kline officiating. Burial was in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Bruce, Doug and Keith Koerselman, Kevin and Mark Oltmanns, Rick Jensen, Mark and Brent Borchers.

Mrs. Oltmanns was born June 21, 1938, on the family farm in rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Henry and Johannah (Haage) Borchers. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston Township. She graduated from Akron High School in 1956 and the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis in 1957, as a medical lab technician. She worked for St. Luke's Hospital and the Akron Hospital until 1961. She married Merlyn Oltmanns Dec. 9, 1960, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township. The couple made their home on a farm near Craig. She worked for Schultz Ag Consultant Agency from 1993 to 1996.

Mrs. Oltmanns was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and confirmation classes.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and their husbands, Deb and Mark Herzberg of Merrill and Jill and Scott Renken of Le Mars; a brother and his wife, Marlin and Elnora Borchers of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Brooke, Judd and Joseph Herzberg and Molly Renken, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
