WILLIAM PRENTICE DEAD
William Middleton Prentice died at his home in this city Saturday about noon, following an illness of a few weeks, caused by a blood clot on the brain. Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. H. Stidham, were held at the Christian church Monday afternoon at 2 :30 ,and the remains interred in the Shelbina cemetery.
Mr. Prentice was born in Louisville, Ky., August 13, 1846 and came to Missouri when about 23 years of age, first settling in Monroe county. He later moved to a farm near Lentner and in 1905 to this city, where he had since resided. In 1877 he was married to Miss Laura Thomas of Louisville, Ky., who with two daughters, Mrs. Lulu Brashear and Mrs. Allie Collins survives. One son, Roland, died in 1893, aged 11 years. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. John Francis, of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Annie Thurman of Louisville Of a quiet and unassuming disposition, he was universally liked by all who knew him and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Collins and Mr. and Mrs. W. M, Brashear were all confined to their beds with grip Monday, and were unable to attend the funeral services, but we are glad to state that they are now on the road to recovery.
