He is survived by his wife Linda J. Pruitt after 42 years together. He was born to the late Vincent A. and Margaret E. Cummings and was raised from the age of 7 by his guardians Irbin B. & Carrie Smith. He graduated from Mason High School in 1956 and went to Michigan State University, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1960.
He worked for Collins Radio and then spent 2 years in the U.S. Army stationed in El Paso before joining IBM in 1964. He retired in 2011 after 47 years as a computer programmer, most of it in EIS/EDS/EDA.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his siblings, Carolyn Falsetta, Margo Brockwell and Duane LeRoy, all in Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation was held on Saturday June 7, 2014 at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home Hopewell Junction, NY followed by a brief memorial ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Dan's name to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
