Everard A. Bemis came to Billings in 1936 and worked as a painter and furniture refinisher until retiring in 1972.
A saxophone and clarinet player, he played with the Broadview Orchestra for several years and then with the Les Stahl band at the Moose Lodge. He was member of the First Congregational Church, Painter's Local Union No. 167 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and his home.
Mr. Bemis, 81, of 1108 N. 24th St., died Friday evening in St. Vincent Hospital.
He was born in Milo, Minn., a son of Eugene and Clara (Deuel) Bemis. he homesteaded with his family near Belmont in 1910 and graduated from Broadway High School in 1924. In 1940, he married Eudora McKellips in Billings.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Frank of Choteau and Dean of Billings; a daughter, Eileen Dennis of Billings; a sister, Mary Berndt of San Joes, Calif., a brother Vern Site of Silesia; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Smith West Chapel with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
