Eudora Carder, the daughter of Unknwn Carder (possibly Henry N.?) and Adelaide Robbins Carder and her elder brother, Henry N., were brought up by their maternal grandparents, Josiah and Elizabeth Sturdivant Robbins in Grant, Riley, Kansas, Find A Grave Mems #65083223 and #65083095 respectively.

By 1865 Henry N., five, and Eudora Carder, three, were living with their Robbins grandparents. In Josiah's will, dated 3 November 1871, proved October 1873, it is stated "to heirs of deceased daughter Adalaide Carder; to grandchild Eudora Jane Carder...." Henry must have died between the 1865 and 1870 censuses. He does not appear in the 1870 census record.

At about 17 years of age Eudora married a much older Kansas pioneer, Vermont born Elisha Putnam Webber, Find A Grave Mem #139948992. It is surmised that the Robbins and Webbers were neighbors. At some point the successful farmer/rancher repudiated his wife of about twenty-four years and married Dora. (By this time Josiah Robbins had died and his youngest son, Jeremiah P. Robbins, about 27, was responsible for his widowed mother and niece. The story in the family is that he wanted his freedom and pushed Eudora into the marriage.) The Webbers had five children, four who lived to adulthood, but the marriage was very unhappy due to the disparity in the couple's temperaments.

About 1890 the Webbers moved to Guthrie, OK, where the marriage ended. Elisha retained custody of the children, who seldom saw their mother after that.

Dora married at least twice more, and possibly three times. She kept the surname of her third husband, Nathan N. Rawson, by whom she had two sons, George and Henry, and possibly a daughter, Alice. (Alice's half-sister, Daisy Webber Roberts, said that Eudora was married secondly to a Mr. Burton and that Alice was a Burton.)

Eudora seems to have changed her given name to Edora, dropped her middle name of Jane and added a middle name of Isabel(le).

For several years in the late 1920s/early 1930s Eudora and younger son Henry N. Rawson, Jr. lived in Salt Lake City, Utah with elder son George Alward Rawson, Find A Grave Mem #109577519. From about 1935 Eudora/Edora and Harry made their home in Inglewood, CA. I had thought that she was buried there, but have been informed by a cousin that that is not the case.
