Born in "Hinzeville", the Calumet County part of the City of Kiel, Wisconsin.
The oldest son of Jørgen Ray and Adela Manz Johnson, he attended Kiel Schools. He was baptized and confirmed at St.Peter's United Church of Christ by the Rev. E.L. Worthman.
George attended the Kiel Public Schools and during this time, he played trombone in the High School Band and the City of Kiel Band.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and later in the U.S. Air Force.
George married Virginia E. Mitchell 14th September, 1951 in Quincy, MA.
Their children are; Karen, Mark, Paul, Diane, Alan and Brian.
Grandfather of nineteen and Great-Grandfather of twenty-three.
Also survived by his sister Carolyn Johnson.
