Dennis W. Heckaman, 62, of Nappanee, died unexpectedly at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 15, in the emergency room at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born June 11, 1952, in Elkhart, to Roland E. and Patricia J. (Schmucker) Heckaman.

Dennis lived his lifetime in this area. He was a 1970 graduate of NorthWood High School in Nappanee.

On May 1, 1971, he married Brenda Stouder.

Mr. Heckaman worked for NIPSCO for 35 years. He retired as supervisor for the NIPSCO gas divisions.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda; daughter Danya (Jeremy “Moe”) Pippen of Nappanee; son Derick Heckaman of Nappanee; grandchildren Cody Pippen, Erick Heckaman and Amanda Heckaman; father Roland E. Heckaman of Wakarusa; sister Cheryl (Wayne) Kline; and mother-in-law June Stouder of Wakarusa.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Heckaman.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee, where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 20. The Rev. Janet McFall-Brown will officiate. Burial will be Union Center Cemetery.
