Son of Rensselaer and Maria Bowen (Gilbert) Bliss.

On 21 Oct 1860 Henry, 20, married Huldah B. Tucker, daughter of Hosea and Evelina (Holmes) Tucker, at Spencer, Worcester County, Massachusetts.

n 30 Jul 1862 Henry, a mechanic, mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of North Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 22 years, 3 months and 21 days old.

Henry and his brother, Oliver Bliss, served together in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry in company F from North Brookfield.

Henry died on 17 Sep 1862 at The Battle of Antietam, Washington County, Maryland, killed in action. He was 22 years, 5 months and 8 days old.

After his death, his widow Hulda received a pension based on his service until her remarriage to to Henry H. Stone.
