Funeral services were held in Friday, November 25, 1960 at 2:00 p.m. at the DeLamere Lutheran Church for Mary Steedsman, who passed away at the St. Francis Hospital on Monday. Rev. Lloyd A. Nelson officiated. Dahlstrom's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Immanuel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carl Peterson, Elmer Wyum, Donald Johnson, James Anderson, Oscar Jacobson, and Oscar W. Wehlander.
Mary Steedsman was born May 29, 1883 at Lisbon, N. D., to parents, Hans and Anna Jorgenson. She grew up in the DeLamere area and was united in marriage to Albert Layton on September 23rd, 1900. Mr. Layton passed away on May 22rd, 1914. To this union six children were born, Arnold, of Colfax, Washington; Mrs. Ernest (Irene) Syaholm, of Great Falls, Montana; Richard Layton, of Valley City, N.D.; Mrs., Ruben (Doris) Chellquist, of Rochester, Minn.: Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Schlotfeldt, of DeLamere. One son, Raymond Layton, preceded her in death.
She was remarried to Earl Steedsman on August 17th, 1920. To this union three sons were born, Donald, of DeLamere, Carol, of Enderlin, N. Dak. One son died in infancy. Mr. Steedsman passed away in 1948.
She also leaves to mourn her passing 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, three sisters, Mrs. Paul Gibson, of St. Paul, Minn.; Mabel and Mildred, of San Diego, Calif.; three brothers, Harold Jorgenson, of Enderlin, and Galen and Jack, of St. Pail:. Minn.
