Mr. Metevia, age 84 years, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Carriage House. He was born on April 22, 1930 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Edward & Irene (Rivard) Metevia. He married Lucy Ruth Grappin on May 1, 1954. She predeceased him on December 2, 1989. He served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War. John retired from Dow after 30 years of service. He enjoyed wood working, hunting, bowling and collecting die cast cars but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children John Jr. (Tammy) Metevia, Russell (Lee Ann) Metevia, Kathy (Mike) Moquin, and Lisa (James) Goss, seven grandchildren; Kevin and Keith Wiggins, Kristen Metevia, Sarah (Eric) DeYoung and their mother Cathy Buck, April (Anthony DiRusso) Goss, Jim (fiancé Chelsie Niemiec) Goss Jr. and Heidi Metevia, two sisters Rose DePrekel, and Joan Cleary and a brother in law Tom Delise. He was predeceased by two sisters Mary Delise, and Ann (Tom) Essex, a brother Joseph Metevia, and two brothers in laws Fran DePrekel, and Pat Cleary.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 11 am from Corpus Cristi- Holy Trinity Campus with Rev. Fr. Bert Gohm presiding with inurnment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel on Monday from 3 to 8 pm. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 pm with military funeral honors. On Tuesday, John will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of service. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Disabled American Vets, Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Bay County Right to Life.
