Dorothy Jean (Dodie) Hogstad, age 59, of Eau Claire WI passed away March 9, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems after a heroic effort to defeat an aggressive cancer. Dodie was born in Hayward, Wisconsin, on December 17, 1955 to Richard A. Hogstad and Carol J. Radtke Hogstad. She attended schools in Brillion and Eau Claire and graduated from St. Bede's Academy in 1973.

Dodie's talent in art and music became apparent at an early age. She exhibited and sold etchings, woodburnings and pen and ink drawings at art shows around the country. Her work was displayed at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum - Wausau, Wi and featured in several woodburning instruction manuals as fine art examples. Wildlife was her favorite subject. She was also an accomplished pianist, prolific composer and kind piano teacher. She produced two musical compilations in her lifetime the first being "Thru the Veils" the second, "Snow Angel". As a young woman, she raised and showed Cocker Spaniels and worked as a florist. She loved crafts and yarn! Her sense of humor was legendary.

She devoted the later part of her life to being a single mom to her daughter. We have the honor of remembering her not only as an extraordinary artist, but as an extraordinary mother.

Dodie is survived by her daughter, Emily; her sister Christine Ansari; her brother Charles (Sharon) Hogstad; two nephews, Steve Ansari and Rick Palain; and a niece, Christina Bennett; as well as a cousin, Jon Rigua. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and her father.

Celebration of life services Saturday, June 20 2015.
