Dennis C. Glaze, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Glaze, son of the late Joseph E. and Katie M. (Ruppel) Glaze, was born Sept. 10, 1925 in Poplar Bluff. He attended Agee Fellowship Church, and was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Army having served with Company F 345th Infantry Division. For his service Mr. Glaze was awarded an American Theater Service Medal; a EAME Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars; Good Conduct Medal; Purple Heart; Distinguished Unit Badge; and WWII Victory Medal. After the war he worked 15 years with Missouri Pacific Railroad, and later retired after 27 years with the U. S. Postal Service. Mr. Glaze was alo a member of the Odd Fellow's Lodge in Polar Bluff. His passion was to see the Poplar Bluff Railroad Depot restored.

On May 2, 1959 he married Betty Mae Page in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include his son, David Glaze and his wife, Lana of Harviell; three grandchildren: Christy Kneir and her husband Kevin, Darla Preslar and her husband Michael and James Hughey; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Helen Powell of Alhambra, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Jim Hoyt officiating and the Rev. Vernon Kneir assisting. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
