Born May 20, 1950 in Cartersville, he was a son of the late Leonard “Pole Cat” Abernathy and Emma Lee Martin Abernathy. Ricky was of the Baptist Faith and worked for the City of Euharlee. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his mother, Emma Lee Martin Abernathy; brother, Teddy Abernathy and his wife Terry; and a sister, Joan Morrow and her husband Robert.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Corey Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Billy Croy, Steve Southern, Leroy Shepherd, Bobby Wade, Dwight Woodfin, and C. L. Tidwell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mikel Martin and Kenny Martin.
