Virgil E. Youngblood, 88, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Marion House in Ocala, Fla.

He was born May 31, 1923 in Gwinnett County, GA, the son of the late Perry and Lonnie (Wilbright) Youngblood. After his formal education he served in the United States Maine Corp. in World War II. By profession he was a police officer and a truck driver. Virgil retired to Ocala in 1970. Mr. Youngblood was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie C. Youngblood in 2010; two brothers; and six sisters.
He is survived by daughters, Karen "Kay" Meadow, special friend, Jerry Vaughn, Marilyn (Bill) Lambert; son, Michael E. "Mike" (Kris) Youngblood; grandchildren, Sandy (Trent) Hillsman, Angie (Brad) Bolemon, Kelly (Mark) Attaway, Amanda C. Hooper, Michael K. Youngblood, Deidra A. (Chris) Penion, and Chad E. (Lauren) Youngblood; and eight great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date in Hull, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made to The American Cancer Society.
