Donald Edward Abbott, 91, of Altus, Arkansas, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Altus.
He was born October 30, 1923 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Leroy Samuel and Mary Ruth Stebbins Abbott.

He was a retired truck driver and a farmer. He was a WWII veteran of the US Marines; a member of St MaryÂ’s Catholic Church in Altus, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps League in California, and the Coal Hill VFW.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Holliker Abbott, and a daughter Kathleen Virden.

He is survived by five sons, Richard Abbott and Robert Abbott, both of Altus; Ronald Abbott of Cabot, Arkansas, Michael Abbott of Coalinga, California, and Dennis Abbott of Mount Vernon, Kentucky; a sister Doreene Kennedy of Conway, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altus, with Father Hugh Assenmacher, OSB, presiding and burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Rosary will be held at 6:00 until 6:30 PM Sunday, March 15th at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark and will be followed by visitation with friends from 6:30 until 8:00 PM.
