Homer Bergeson
Homer Burnell Bergeson, 89, of Seneca, died at 12 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002 in Morris Hospital, Morris.
Funeral services were held today at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Seneca. The Rev. Kris Ann Zierke officiated.
Music was by Robert Widman Jr. and Andrea Boggs, soloists, accompanied by Mary Lou Larson, organist. Songs included "How Great Thou Art," "In the Garden," "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "A Closer Walk With Thee."
Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Brookfield Township. Pallbearers were nephews: Rick Billups, Dan Kanakares, Kenny and Merlin Levien, and Craig, Steve and Tom Petersen.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren: Bill, Dawn, Pam and Richard Bergeson, Laura Dawson and Paula Quinn; and a niece, Sherrie Evans.
Visitation was Thursday evening at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home, Seneca, and for an hour this morning at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Seneca.
Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 28, 1912 at Letcher, S. D., he was the son of Benjamin and Belle (Lee) Bergeson. He married Cora Petersen on Sept. 25, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa. She survives.
Also surviving are sons, Burnell W. (Sheryl) Bergeson and Dennis (Diane) Bergeson, both of Ransom; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jesse and Oscar Bergeson; and sisters, Pearl and Ruby Bergeson, Marion Gales, Gladys Godfrey, Edna Johnson, Blanche Stange, Anna Uhre and Myrtle Worden.
He resided in the Seneca area since 1948. He was a farmhand in South Dakota and the Seneca area and had worked at Nabisco in Marseilles for 22 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Seneca.
Memorials may be directed to his church renovation fund, Seneca Ambulance Service or Marseilles Nursing Service.
