Marcelina was one of possibly 11 children born to Pedro "Pete" Dobales and Dominga "Minnie" Alvarez. She and her twin brother Marcelino were one of several sets of twins born to this family. Marcelino lived just under two months.

Through her father's side of the family Marcelina's ancestors trace back to the arrival of those early California Hispanic setters of the Juan Bautista de Anza Second Expedition 1775-76.

Through her mother's side of the family Marcelina's ancestors were here before California became a State and were naturalized by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Marcelina has very deep Californio roots, and a very rich heritage.

Marcelina married Gaudencio Daclan Rivera and together they had 15 children. She is survived by Joseph (Maxine), Patricia Barney, Gaudencio (Anita), Teresa Fenis (George), Irene Hearn (Ron), Gloria Seyford, Victor, DeMetrio (Marlene), Marcelina Bell (Tom), Darlene Gibson (Donald), Peter; Sister-In-Law Lucy Dovales and numerous grandchildren, great, and 2x great grands.

Marcelina's husband Gaudencio, sons Semion, Andre, and Gregory, along with daughters Mary and Elizabeth all preceded her in death.
