Harris was in the Army. He trained at Fort Gordon, GA and was active for six months. Then, he went into the reserves for about 6 years.
He met and married Joy Ella (Branson) Stickley from St. Joseph, Missouri, in the 1960s, but the two divorced. He never remarried.
His father and brother Roger preceded him in death. Both died at an early age from congestive heart failure.
Robert is survived by: his mother, Beata Brockmann of West Point, Nebraska; two sisters, Janet Brockmann and Charline Grovijohn; three grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
