Confusion: Death certificate gives parents as "Thomas Winstead & Sarah Cox" but it appeared to me that Sarah was his wife, not mother?
Thomas is believed to have married twice; this is still being researched.
1- Perhaps married first to Sarah COX and had possibly 8 children.
2- Married secondly about 1903 to Mary Frances GATES, daughter of Harvey C. GATES (1835–1900) and Mary Jane BURTON (1840–1910). No children are identified by this marriage.
Mary (Gates) Winstead was first married 22 March 1893, Kentucky, to Simon E. JONES.
Mary (Gates) and Simon Jones had three known children:
1- Waitsel Avery (Waitful Q) Jones (1894 – 1980)
2- Georgie Mae (or Georgia M) Jones (1895 – 1984)
3- Lambert Yeamen (Lamburtt Y) Jones (1899 – 1926)
