Cecilia Katherine Dolinar Hofeldt passed away peacefully February 24th at Nyssa Gardens in Nyssa, OR. She will be buried at the Parma Cemetery. In December she celebrated her 100th birthday with many of her children, grandchildren and friends present. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Fred D. Hofeldt, Sr. and is survived by her six children, Fred, Jr., Kathryn Brook, Robert, Albert, Patricia Galloway and Ronald and their spouses, 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was the last surviving member of her generation on both sides of the family. Cecilia was born in Rock Springs, WY. on December 9, 1914. After graduating from high school, she worked in California for a short period before returning to Wyoming where she worked as a nanny, housekeeper and cook for several families during the Great Depression. While in Wyoming, she and her family resided in Rock Springs, Green River and Rawlins. In 1948 the family settled in Meridian, ID where they took up farming, while Fred Sr. worked on the Union Pacific Railroad as a fireman and engineer. Cecilia worked in the hop fields, Birds Eye Frozen Foods and maintained the family farms. Cecilia did much of the farm irrigation and her goal was always to make water flow uphill, which she never achieved. Cecelia and Fred enjoyed traveling to Hawaii several times, many trips to east coast and St. Martin. After retirement they enjoyed their frequent coffee runs, driving the local loops. She has lived in Middleton, Notus, Parma, Caldwell, Glenns Ferry, Adrian, and Caldwell, but favored her home in Nyssa. She will be remembered for her inner strenth, determination, love of life and to remain independent, even after suffering numerous bouts of pneumonia and a massive stroke at age 99, from which she had an amazing recovery. Cecelia will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. There will be a celebration of life for Cecelia at a later date. With very special thanks to Presbyterian Community Care Center, Nyssa Gardens, Micah Wilson FNP, Dr. Barton, Dr. Smith, Dr. Stark, Dr. Schantzen and XL Hospice. With love and many thanks to Ruby Wright and Geneta Jones. Friends and family may send condolences to [email protected].
