Rites Held for Soldier who Hanged Self
Fellow soldiers from the mechanized cavalry unit at Georgetown attended a religious service Saturday night in St Peter's Church, Lewes, for T.-Sgt. Wilfred S. Edmands, 26, whose body was found hanging by a rope in his Georgetown barracks Friday. Friends in his unit bore the flag-draped casket at the short service arranged and conducted by the Chaplain.
The body was shipped yesterday for burial in Saugus, Mass., his former home. The soldier is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Edmands; an infant child born 3 days before his death, and his father, W. S. Edmands of Lynn, Mass. The death was called a suicide.
