Born Aug. 4, 1923 in Grant City, Mo., he lived in Minnesota and Nebraska for a time, and for most of his life in St. Joseph.
He was a member of Francis Street First United Methodist Church. During World War II he served with the Marine Corp.
He had been employed with the railroad, as a shoe salesman, and as an automobile salesman. He retired in 1987 from St. Joseph Light and Power Company, where he was a chemist.
On Nov. 11, 1942, he married the former Billie Louise Ingram of Troy, Kan. She survives of the home.
His parents Dewey and Faye (Ray) Barker and his grandson, Sean Justin Barker preceded him in death.
