Donald E. Pickett, 84, of Waldron, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Waldron Health Care Home in Waldron.

Born Aug. 4, 1916, in Batesville, he was the son of Ora and Sophia (Yaeger) Pickett. He married Virginia Hendricks on Oct. 19, 1935, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2001.

Survivors include one son, Donald E. Pickett of Waldron; one daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Shirley) Kuntz of Waldron; one sister, Mrs. Jim (Norma Lou) Kerr of Shelbyville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mr. Pickett moved to Shelby County from Jennings County 63 years ago and was a farmer and drove a school bus for 22 years, for Shelby Eastern and Shelby Central schools, retiring in 1977.

He was a member of Zenas Baptist Church in Jennings County, 40-year board member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Association and the Farmers Masonic Lodge of Norristown.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with the Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating.

Burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery in Shelby County.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County.
