U.S. Veteran Michael Patrick Carmody, 66, of Carlsville, was called Home to the Lord and was reunited with his wife, Rita, on Thursday, March 5, 2015.

He was born February 17, 1949, in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Paul Joseph and Anna Margaret (McCarty) Carmody. Mike attended school in Carlsville and later graduated from Sevastopol High School. He served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mike studied education at Silver Lake College and special education at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. He worked with students as a special education teacher at Gibraltar High School for over 30 years. Mike also coached track, cross-county, and freshman football.

He was united in marriage to Rita Ann Carmody at Cave Point in Door County on July 26, 1999. They were blessed with over 15 years of marriage. Rita passed away November 1, 2014.

Mike was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Egg Harbor (now Stella Maris Parish-Egg Habor site). As a veteran, he was active with AMVETS Post 51, V.F.W. Post 3088, and American Legion Post 72, all in Door County. Mike also enjoyed traveling with family, camping, and attending the Hodag Country Music Festival.

He will be deeply missed by his two sons, Michael (partner, Erika Alizadeh) of San Diego, CA, Matthew (Emily) of Boston, MA; three grandchildren, Lauren Alizadeh, Christian Carmody, Ellie Carmody; four sisters, Joan Peterson of Sturgeon Bay, Kathleen Kaye of Carlsville, Eunice Londo of Sturgeon Bay, Sister Ann Margaret Carmody of Green Bay; one brother, Frank (Sue) Carmody of Green Bay; one sister-in-law, Peggy Carmody of Conneaut, OH; other relatives; and friends.

Mike was welcomed Home by his parents; wife, Rita (2014); two brothers, Robert, William; one sister, Barbara Carmody; and four brothers-in-law, Leon Charnetski, Alvin Peterson, Norbert Kaye, and Melvin Londo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Stella Maris Paris-Egg Habor site with Fr. David Ruby as celebrant. Following Mass, Mike will be laid to rest beside his wife, Rita, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, at HUEHNS Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church, Tuesday morning, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. A parish wake service will be prayed and led by Pastoral Associate Becky Nash at 7:30 p.m., Monday evening, at HUEHNS Funeral Home.
