Seth was the son of Andrew Baker and Martha Jane Simpson. The 1870 census lists him living with his parents and 3 sisters in Clay County, Dakota Territory. On 19SEP1895 he married Esther McNinch, daughter of Sarah Jaquay McNinch (read obit at FAG54681357). The 1900 Woodbury, IA census lists Seth and Esther, her 9-year-old daughter Marietta Florida (FAG104489870) and her 12-year-old son Charles Florida (FAG125083166). Marietta married Edgar Reeser (FAG104489510), and the 1920 Sublette, Lee Co., IL census shows Marietta Reeser's family living with 49-year-old Esther Baker. The Watsonville, CA census of 1930 lists Seth as the unmarried boarder in the home of Frederick James Hall (FAG 87505236, the son of Thomas Edwin David "Ted" HALL and Ida Belle BAKER.). Fred's two sons, Edwin (age 16, born in Montana) and William (age 10, born in SD) were also living in the home. The 1940 census has Seth still living in Watsonville, then with Fred's son Edwin and Edwin's wife Alice Hall. Seth's obit (shown to your right) lists three nephews that survived him: William Handy (son of sister Lydia Baker Handy, 182046080); Albert Levi Fish (the sixth child of Lovel & Mary Ann Baker Fish) and Frederick James Hall (87505236). Per Richard Stauff (#47106193): Seth's obit misprinted the cemetery name. Seth was actually buried in Day Valley Cemetery in Santa Cruz County, CA., which is small and all visible markers have been accounted for (Seth has no marker on his grave). In January 1953 Fred Hall and his son William were on a fishing trip when they both drowned off the coast of Davenport, Santa Cruz Co, CA.
