Jacob John Friend was born in Maryland in 1814. He married Fannie Knable in Hagerstown Maryland on March 9, 1843. Jacob and Fannie moved their family to the Knox/Kenry Co. Illinois area in 1853. There they farmed most of their lives near the town of Nekoma, Il. Together they raised 9 children.
