Clara is buried in the northeastern area of McAllaster in an unmarked grave. There were no cemeteries there at the time

William Franklin Mills moved to Makato, KS with his widowed mother and brothers and sisters. He hired on with the railroad and found out he could homestead. He filed out in western Kansas and sent for his wife and children. It was desolate and far removed from civilization. They were close to a railroad mail drop called McAllastar. (I have letters with the post mark) and a history of the area where now there is no town. I located his Homestead patent and with this map I found where the exact location was. Before he "proved up" his wife Clara and four of his children died out there. A letter from his sister asks, "Can we come to get you? I heard you were moving in with neighbors to stay warm and burning furniture.?" They did come and get his remaining children and after a few months, when he had proved up on the homestead,he joined them all with his Mother and they moved to Bentonville, Arkansas. -- Information provided by Charlotte Hutchins

Clara's mother's maiden name was Crider and she is from the family that founded Cridersville, Ohio
