Married Dorthy on Sept 21, 1946∼BUMGARNER, JAMES G. "SONNY" JR. - age 79 of Bartow, Florida and Knoxville, passed away Friday, July 7, 2006 at his residence in Bartow. He was a Geologist with Occidental Oil Company's Exploration Division. He received his Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Dorthy "Dot" Bumgarner of Bartow daughter, Lisa Thompson and husband Doug of Bartow sons, Dr. John Bumgarner of Clearwater, FL Dr. William Bumgarner of Cartersville, GA and Captain Gary Bumgarner, USN (Ret.) of Green Cove Springs, FL 11 grandchildren brother, Frank Bumgarner of Knoxville, TN. Family and friends will meet at Stony Point Cemetery off Thorngrove Pike Wednesday at 10:00 am for graveside services, Rev. Jerry Talent officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. www.berryfuneralhome.com.
