She was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, near the Taylor church. She moved to the Hickory Grove community with her parents when she was 14. She was residing here at the time of her death.
On Feb. 14, 18889, she married John Lamm at Salem, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage, she and her husband moved to Nebraska. After about nine years they came back to Iowa, where they lived since.
One son, Jesse Edward, was born to their marriage. He died June 16, 1934. Her husband died Oct. 16, 1920.
Those left to mourn her are one step-son, Jack Lamm, his wife and four children, two grandchildren, Neva, age 17, and Burl, age 12, and their mother, Mrs. Jesse Lamm. Mrs. Lamm and her children had been making their home with the deceased for the last few years. Also surviving is one sister, Sarah Shelman, of Glasgow.
Aunt Lydia, as everyone knew her, was a charter member of the Hickory Grove church and a faithful co-worker there. Her life was a real inspiration and benediction to all who were privileged to know her. Although she was well up in years and quite frail, her sudden death was a chock to the community.
