Hattie Mae Rice was born in Kingston, Iowa in 1900, the fourth of 16 children of John Peter Rice and Minnie Johanna Koch. In 1925, Hattie married Edward Senn, and they had 7 children. Hattie was also grandmother to 13 grandchildren. She died in 1983 at Illini Hospital in Silvis, Illinois, of heart disease, and was buried at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa on July 5, 1983.

KINGSTON - Kingston native Hattie May Senn, 83, Blackhawk Hills, East Moline, Ill., died in Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill., Friday, July 1, 1983.

She was born May 26, 1900, to John and Minnie Koch Rice. She married Edward Senn in Burlington
in 1925; he died in 1968.

Surviving: Six sons, Raymond, Trona, Calif., Stan. Portland, Ore., Paul, Rock Island, Ill., Donald, Silvis, Ill., Gary, East Moline, Ill., and Edward, Burlington; two daughters, Millie Gustafson, Silvis, and Delia Mitts, East Moline; two brothers, Harold Rice, Wapello, and John Rice, Burlington; eight sisters, Mary Louise Yedlick, Cedar Rapids, Grace Gorham, Mediapolis, and Nellie Hand, Sperry, and, at Burlington, Ruby Engel, Hazel Shultz, Mabel Stimpson, Edna Smith, and Lena Kramer; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday; the Rev. Arthur Campney. The body is at Sullivan-Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline.
