Paul "Lucky" Farrell Sr., 74, of Athens, passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at his home.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a retired employee of Cartwright Construction Company where he was a heavy equipment operator. A son of the late Brunner and Sarah Ellen McCulloch Farrell, he was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mamie Lee Cornett, Mary J. Farrell and Agnes Farrell; and two brothers, Carl and Frazier Farrell.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Ann Delzell of Athens and Emma Faye Beasley of Riceville; five sons and one daughter-in-law, Tony Farrell of Chattanooga, Paul Farrell Jr., of Athens, Danny Marvin Farrell of Athens, Jeffery Lee Farrell of Loudon and Jerry Lynn and Kay Farrell of Athens; one stepson, Justin Kennedy of Athens; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Farrell of Athens; two sisters, Nina Smith and Inez Morrow, both of Athens; a special friend, Pat Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd Boggess and Chaplain Leslie Fauntleroy officiating. Burial will be in the Farrell Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Clifton Hampton, Mike McMinn, Andy Kennedy, Chris Pritchett, Tommy Gouge and Butch Farrell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
