Thomas Edward Cutting enlisted in the Civil War, Union, Illinois Company C, 33rd Infantry Regiment. He married Rhoda W. Park (1st wife) in 1869. Their children were Laura W. Cutting (who married Charles H. Bryant #52259625) and Jonathan Park Cutting.

Thomas Edward Cutting also married Mary T. Jackson Strode (2nd wife) #143296176 in 1894.
