WYNETTE A. MARY ADAMSON RAGSDALE Wynette A. Mary Wynette Adamson Ragsdale, born 1916, died on her birthday, March 26, 2007. She was the last surviving child of the nine offspring of Linton Mallory and Geneva Power Adamson, of Rex, GA. After graduating from Jonesboro High School and Georgia State College for Women, she moved to Washington, DC, where she completed graduate degrees in elementary education at George Washington University. She married Edward S. Ragsdale in 1944, and began married life in Arlington, VA, bearing a son, Edward Jr., in 1948. Her 33-year teaching career began at Congressional School and later Ft. Meyer Elementary School in Virginia. In 1957, after her husband was selected to head the Southeast Regional Office of the Federal Trade Commission, the family moved to Atlanta. Mrs. Ragsdale taught first grade at Fernbank Elementary School for 29 years, retiring in 1986. A widow since 1976, Mrs. Ragsdale married Hugh Brannon in 2006. She remained an active member of Emory Baptist Church, and later, First Baptist Church of Decatur, and also enjoyed membership in the DAR. She is survived by her husband, Hugh Brannon; her son, Edward S. Ragsdale, Jr., of New York City; two granddaughters, Melanie Turner, of Calhoun, GA, and Jennifer Holtzer of Charlotte, NC; and three great-grandsons, Matthew Turner, Mitchell Turner, and Jake Holtzer. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 30, at 11am, at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. The family will be receiving friends at Pattersons Spring Hill on Thursday evening, March 29 2007 from 6 until 8PM.
