KEARNEY — Donna E. Crawford, 85, of Kearney died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at CHI Health Good Samaritan.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Kearney Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Brian Klein officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Donna, along with her twin brother, was born on Nov. 7, 1929, to Robert and Myrtle (Jewel) Leininger near Arcadia. As a young girl, Donna was invited to Balsara Baptist Sunday school and church where she received Christ as her Savior. It was her desire to live for him since that time. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1947.
She married Roy H. Crawford on Dec. 22, 1947. Two daughters were born to this union, Patricia Faith Heaton and Rodona “Dee” Faith McClenahan. Roy and Donna moved to Lincoln in 1956. They lived there for two years before they moved to Kearney where they lived until their deaths.
Donna attended Kearney State College where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She taught school in Kearney Public Schools for 31 years. She was a member of Kearney Evangelical Free Church and was an active volunteer. She also was active in other organizations including Kearney Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and Kiwanis.
Surviving relatives include her daughters and their spouses, Dee and Nathan McClenahan and Patricia and Keith Heaton, all of Kearney; grandchildren, Balin and Tyson Heaton and Bree and Luke McClenahan, all of Kearney, Jared McClenahan of Lincoln and Calla McClenahan Job of Evans Mills, N.Y.; and great-grandson, Alex Heaton of Kearney.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brothers, Gerald and Dale.
