ROBERT'S OBITUARY
The funeral service for Mr. Robert Louis Tackett will be at 10:00 am Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Church of Christ, 901 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, OK. Officiating will be Mr. Ken Tackett and Mr. Dan Fredman. Song leader will be David Ellis.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter, OK. Pallbearers will be Brandon Tackett, Jason Tackett, Justin Thomas, Steve Madalone, Eric Tackett and Mark Tackett.

Viewing will be Sunday afternoon from 1:00-5:00 pm at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory.

Robert was born February 25, 1930 in Vian, Oklahoma, the seventh of thirteen children born to Sherman Tackett and Lottie Mae (Elam) Tackett. He started school in Okay, then moved to south Porter, OK, in the Clarkesville area. He was baptized into Christ August, 1946 in the Verdigris River. In the seventh grade he began dating Norma Jean Acree. Following graduation from high school in 1948, Robert enlisted in the Air Force that November. After basic training at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX he was stationed at F. Pepperill, Newfoundland for 21 months. He married Norma Jean on November 23, 1950. He was transferred to Eglin AFB in Florida where he worked as a mechanic and attended Church of Christ in Crestview. He was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant on November 2, 1954.

He and Norma moved to Tulsa where Robert went to work for McDonnel Douglas. For six years Robert attended night school at the Oklahoma School of Accounting, graduating in 1960. He worked for the Union Texas Natural Gas Co. as internal accountant for 4 years, followed by Tuloma Gas Co. for 9 years.

In 1965 the family, increased by the birth of three sons, Robert, Jr., Roger and Richard, moved to Wagoner, where Robert began faithfully attending Wagoner Church of Christ, serving as teacher, song leader, deacon, and elder.

He worked for Elmer Hoffman in Muskogee and Lopp Construction until 1975. He bought Tackett Accounting from J.C. Tackett and built a new office in 1980, moving Tackett Accounting to 101 1st Street in Wagoner. Norma worked as a partner for 21 years. They retired from accounting in 1992 and from taxes in 1997. Norma passed away February 20, 2000.

Robert married Martha Manes on October 11, 2000, and they began a life together. Robert's health began failing with several challenges over the following years. He died Thursday, July 19, 2018 two days after a fall.

He will be missed by his family and friends alike. Survivors include his wife, Martha Tackett of the home; three sons: Robert Louis Jr. and his wife, Katharyn, Roger Wayne and wife, Wanda Sue, and Richard Lee and wife, Vaunita; grandchildren: Brandon Lee Tackett and wife, Tamara, Jason Brent Tackett and wife Kristine; Brittany Danielle Johnson and husband, Chad; Mark Dalton Tackett and wife, Ashley; Leisha Faye Thomas and husband, Larry Madalone; Justin Dwight Thomas and wife, Ryann Carter and Eric Lee Tackett; great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Ezekiel, Madison, Paisley, Gracelyn, Bryce, Ave and Stella. He is also survived by one sister, June Ann; many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Lottie Tackett; siblings, Mayble, James Cornelius, Jack Waldon, Oscar, Sherman Edward, Gerald Dee, Ray Benton, Mickey Elam, Billy Buster, Julian Dan and Earl Wayne.
