Secrest, Betty M. 83, of Englewood, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the Oaks of West Kettering.

She was born March 11, 1931, in Portsmouth, to the late Clarence Jenkins and Edna Jenkins Wright.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund L. Secrest Sr. in 1987; a brother, Lewis Jenkins; and sisters Helen Salyers and Nettie Howard.

She is survived by her five children, Edmund "Ted" Secrest Jr. of Kettering, John (Delores) Secrest of New Braunfels, Texas, Sheryl Johnson of West Milton, Karin (Jerry) Kussman of Milford, and Kathryn Cuddson of Beavercreek; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Loraine McCormick of Beavercreek.

Mrs. Secrest retired from the State of Ohio after years of working as a liquor store clerk, and was also a longtime homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, vegetable gardening, was a seamstress, and made and sold candy, all in addition to being a loving mother of five children.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St., West Milton.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. Memorial contributions may be made to one's local hospice.
